The DT38 UK Golf Day 2024 took place in August in blazing sunshine and raised thousands of pounds to support our work raising awareness of testicular cancer.
The annual charity tournament on August 13th was organised by Ian Morgan of E13 Events and hosted by Terry Moncur at Langdon Hills Golf & Country Club in Essex.
The event – now in its fourth year – attracted 14 former West Ham United pros including Martin Allen, James Collins, Tony Cottee, Alan Curbishley, Brian Dear, Tony Gale, Marlon Harewood, Lee Hodges, Ray Houghton, John Moncur, George Parris, Geoff Pike, Stuart Slater and Jimmy Walker.
The icons were teamed up with teams of guests who snapped up all tickets in under 48 hours this year.
Also present this year were representatives from DT38 Australia including Head of Media & Operations Donna Giuffre and Director Chris de Lima.
This year was the biggest event in the Tournament’s history and was kindly sponsored by Rainham Industrial Services and First Response.
Prizes were handed out for the winners as well as “Nearest the Pin” and “Longest Drive”.
Once the 18 holes were completed the 150 guests headed to the banqueting suite for dinner and entertainment.
Hammers midfield hero John Moncur kicked off the action on stage with a moving tribute to Dylan Tombides.
There were also, often hilarious, contributions from Marlon Harewood, Lee Hodges, George Parris, Alan Curbishley, Tony Cotter and George Pike who shared jokes and anecdotes from days gone by at West Ham United.
The soiree was hosted with aplomb (and a dose of craziness) by Tony Gale.
An after dinner auction boosted the fundraising total and included unique lots such as a replica of Dylan Tombides’ West Ham United FC debut shirt, which sold for £1,000. Other items included a signed presentation image from the Hammers Europa Conference League victory in Prague.
A huge thanks to everyone who supported the event, all monies raised will be used to support our work raising awareness of testicular cancer to help save men and boy’s lives through education.
In particular, thank you to Ian Morgan, Terry Moncur, our sponsors Rainham Industrial Services and First Response, to all former Hammers players who gave up their day and to everyone who supported the event and auction.
