It’s been another busy month for us at DT38 and we’re delighted to share some of the very latest developments, events and stories involving our charity.
It’s also a chance for us to pass on vital information about the work we do to raise awareness of testicular cancer around schools and in communities as well as publicly showing gratitude for the many people who support us in our work.
Men and boys: Remember to check yourselves on the first of every month, it could save your life!
Rest In Peace Dylan Tombides – Eight Years Gone, Never Forgotten
Hundreds of tributes poured in this month to remember Dylan Tombides on the eighth anniversary of his passing.
Our beloved Dylan passed away on April 18th, 2014, after a long and brave battle with testicular cancer.
DT38 exists to raise awareness of the disease in memory of Dylan, his story continues to inspire people across the world.
His legacy and continuing influence has helped educate thousands of men and boys about the risks of testicular cancer and the importance of self checking.
On behalf of the Tombides family we would like to say a massive thanks to everyone for your kind messages of love and support this month.
Rest in peach Dylan – 08/03/94-18/04/14
DT38 Awareness Day at West Ham United
The seventh annual DT38 Awareness Day took place at West Ham United this month.
We were very proud, once again, to be centre stage at a Premier League match which was dedicated to helping us raise awareness of testicular cancer.
In advance of the Hammers home fixture versus Burnley FC, the first team squad – including DT38 Ambassadors Mark Noble and Declan Rice – wore DT38 t-shirts during training.
On the 38th minute of the match fans across the stadium took part in a moving tribute of applause for Dylan.
We enjoyed significant coverage in the matchday programme, website and social media and our branding appeared on the advertising boards and stadium screens.
Before the match a video played to the 50,000 strong crowd about the importance of self checking for testicular cancer on the first of every month and Dylan’s brother Taylor Tombides was interviewed pitchside with DT38 Ambassador Carlton Cole.
A huge thanks to every at West Ham United and West Ham United Foundation for your support, once again, at this special annual event.
We are very proud to be a Principal Charity Partner of the Club.
DT38 v DD44 – Special Match to Raise Awareness of Testicular Cancer
A memorable football match took place at ABD Stadium Valley Park, in Melbourne on April 3rd and has raised more than $13,700 AUD so far for DT38.
The game was organised by Hume City FC player Danny Dixon and friends in partnership with DT38.
Danny is, thankfully, on the road to recovery after battling testicular cancer, he took part in the event.
Thomas Sorenson and Michael Zerafa were among the famous faces on show with DT38 Ambassador Paul McNamee enjoying a role in the dug-out on the day.
Huge thanks to all players who took part in the match and to everyone who supported this brilliant event.

Congratulations Harry!
Everyone at DT38 would like to offer our warmest congratulations to Socceroos defender Harry Souttar who won the Dylan Tombides Medal this month.
The 23-year-old – who plays for Stoke City FC – follows in the footsteps of past winner Noah Botic who won the accolade in 2019, the year it launched.
The Medal celebrates the overall conduct and commitment of players representing Australia’s male junior teams, honouring the memory of former youth international Tombides and his bravery when playing for the green and gold.
