DT38 #Channel38 – March Edition

Welcome to the DT38 Foundation March newsletter, #Channel38.

This is where we bring together all the very latest developments, events and support stories at DT38.

It’s also a chance for us to share important information about the work we do to raise awareness of testicular cancer around schools and in communities as well as publicly offering our thanks to the many people who support us in our endeavours.

Launch of Dylan Tombides Learning Centre

Dylan Tombides’ family & former agent attending the opening of the Dylan Tombides Learning Centre

On March 8th, 2019, the very day that Dylan would have been celebrating his 25th birthday, West Ham United made an outstanding tribute to their former striker.

The Dylan Tombides Learning Centre was opened at the newly refurbished Hammer’s Academy at Chadwell Heath.

A group from DT38, including Dylan’s mother Tracy, brother Taylor, grandparents, cousin and close friends of the family joined DT38 Ambassadors and staff at the club to official unveil the new facility bearing his name.

Speaking after what was an emotional and inspiring day, Tracy remarked: “As a mother it fills me with a huge sense of pride to know that Dylan will continue to make a positive impact on the lives of people because that’s the way it was when he was with us.

“For Dylan’s name to be associated with the positive development of young players in the Academy is a tremendous honour and I was extremely proud to visit what will be a very important part of his legacy going forward.”

We are extremely grateful to Stirling Lions FC for dedicating their fixture against Perth Soccer Club at Macedonia Park to raising awareness of DT38.

Perth Glory FC defender Dino Djulbic attended the match to sign autographs for fans.

Huge thanks to Dino, club president Luke Pavlos and everyone at Stirling Lions and Perth Soccer Club for their support.

The match finished Stirling Lions 0-3 Perth Soccer Club.

DT38 White Collar Boxing, Round Two

Following the amazing success of our inaugural event last year, we’re delighted to reveal that Awareness Below the Belt 2.0 will take place on November 10, 2019 and it is very much taking shape.

In late February we were thrilled to hear that great supporter of DT38 and West Ham United season ticket holder Baz Cox (aka Triple B) would be returning to the ring in 2019, following his heavyweight victory at York Hall last year.

Hats off (and gloves on) to Baz!

We have since received several new applications and the card is now filling up fast.

The 2019 event will once again be held at York Hall, London, and we still have spaces on the schedule for more people to take part in this important and exciting event to help DT38 in raising awareness of testicular cancer.

We’re hunting for men and women over the age of 18 who are not experienced boxers, full training will be provided*

The event is brought to you in partnership with Peacock White Collar Boxing who will oversee the action in the ring, keeping it safe and exciting for everyone.

“We saw so many brilliant people taking part in a boxing match for the first time last year to raise very important funds for DT38,” said DT38 co-founder Tracy Tombides.

“We’re now on the hunt for the next generation, so if you’re interested in entering the ring and supporting our campaign to raise awareness of testicular cancer please get in touch, we’d love to hear from you.”
