Annual Dylan Tombides Trophy Brings Community Together for DT38

The 2026 Dylan Tombides Trophy once again demonstrated the power of football to bring people together behind an important cause, as Perth Azzurri SC and Stirling Macedonia FC united to raise awareness of testicular cancer and support the life-saving work of DT38.

Played in honour of Dylan Tombides, whose journey in football included both clubs, the annual two-leg fixture continues to keep his legacy alive while encouraging young people to learn the signs of testicular cancer and the importance of regular self-checking.

Stirling Macedonia FC retained the Dylan Tombides Trophy following another memorable two-leg contest against Perth Azzurri SC, with the 2026 edition once again celebrating the life and legacy of Dylan Tombides while raising awareness for the work of DT38.

Contested exclusively between the two clubs where Dylan developed as a young footballer, the annual trophy has become one of the most meaningful fixtures in the Western Australian football calendar. More than just a football match, it serves as a tribute to Dylan’s memory and an opportunity to spread DT38’s life-saving message around testicular cancer awareness. Dylan represented both clubs during his youth career before embarking on his journey to professional football and international honours.

The first leg took place at Macedonia Park on 28 March 2026, where Stirling Macedonia took control of the tie with an impressive 3-1 victory. That result gave the holders a two-goal advantage heading into the return leg at Dorrien Gardens.

Three months later, on Friday 5 June, supporters were treated to another entertaining encounter as Perth Azzurri and Stirling Macedonia played out a dramatic 3-3 draw. The six-goal thriller reflected the spirit and quality that has become synonymous with the Dylan Tombides Trophy and ensured Stirling retained the trophy with a 6-4 aggregate victory across the two matches.

While the football provided plenty of excitement, the true significance of the occasion extended far beyond the result. Both clubs once again came together in honour of a young man whose impact on the game and those around him continues to be felt more than a decade after his passing.

The Dylan Tombides Trophy was established because of Dylan’s unique connection to both clubs and the Perth area.

DT38 would like to thank everyone involved in making this year’s matches such a success, including the players, coaches, officials, volunteers and supporters from both clubs. Their continued commitment ensures Dylan’s story continues to inspire future generations while helping to spread awareness of the importance of early detection and regular self-checking.

Congratulations to Stirling Macedonia FC on retaining the Dylan Tombides Trophy and thank you to both clubs for once again demonstrating the power of football to unite communities behind an important cause.

Together, we remember Dylan. Together, we raise awareness. Together, we save lives.
