The hit TV documentary about the life and career of Dylan Tombides was shown at a special screening for the West Ham United FC Academy in Romford.
Around 100 Academy footballers from U-8 to U-18 visited the Lumiere Cinema to view the 60-minute programme, aimed at educating the next generation about testicular cancer through Dylan’s story.
The youngsters were joined on 7th November by Hammers’ Sporting Director Mark Noble, Academy Manager Kenny Brown and Secretary Trevor Lewin, both are DT38 Ambassadors.
Later in the evening a second showing was attended by club favourites Tony Cottee, Alan Curbishley, Paul Konchesky, Stuart Slater, Geoff Pike, Brian Dear and Paul Brush alongside DT38 Ambassadors Mark Little, Terry Hayes, James Fuller, Paul Bridger and members of the public.
Dylan was a leading light at Hammers Academy who made one first team appearance for the Club in 2012, before tragically losing a brave three-year battle with testicular cancer on 18th April, 2014.
His shirt number, 38, was retired by the Club shortly after his passing.
The charity, DT38, was set up in Dylan’s memory by the Tombides family in partnership with West Ham United FC ten years ago and the event was also a fundraiser for the cause.
Mark Noble was recently named as a Patron of DT38 and he generously offered to match-fund the amount raised on the night.
Tony Cottee, Stuart Slater and Alan Curbishley are also Ambassadors for the charity.
Tracy Tombides, Dylan’s mother and DT38 Co-Founder, said: “Huge thanks to Mark for his support and generosity and to Kenny and everyone at the West Ham Academy for making this event matter so much.
“Because of the Club’s commitment to the screening, we were able to educate so many young men and boys about Dylan’s journey and about testicular cancer.
“The more we talk about testicular cancer in an accessible and engaging way, such as through this film, the more likely people will start to check themselves going forward.
“This is all about education, awareness, and trying to prevent men and boys going through the types of treatment my son Dylan had to experience.
“I’m also hugely grateful to all the former Hammers players who joined us for the public screening and to everyone who bought a ticket and attended the event.
“And, of course to Ian Morgan, Lumiere Cinema and to all helpers. It makes such a difference.”
The event was organised by Ian’s company E13 Events, he became a Trustee of DT38 in September 2025.
The evening was sponsored by Horizon Travel, Marrowbone Lane Irish Whiskey and Nxt Gen Enterprises and an auction followed the second screening to raise funds.
The documentary, Premier League Stories: Dylan Tombides, was co-produced by DT38 Patron David Davutovic and first shown on Sky Sports and TNT Sports in 2024.
It is not currently available to view on streaming platforms in the UK.
