DT38 UK Golf Day – PICTURE SPECIAL

What a fairway to spend a day!

Our third annual DT38 UK Golf Day was a roaring sell-out success on August 15th.

A galaxy of West Ham United icons mixed with fans and DT38 supporters to enjoy the sublime course at Langdon Hills Golf & Country Club in the sunshine.

Big thanks to Tony Cottee (DT38 Ambassador), Scott Minto, Rob Lee, Alan Curbishley, Marlon Harewood, George Parris, Jimmy Walker, Martin Allen, Geoff Pike, Allen McKnight and Paul Brush who all took part.

And to Tony Gale who picked up his clubs and also hosted the evening event.

Taylor Tombides – Co-founder of DT38 – led a DT38 team around the 18-hole course once again.

In the evening guests enjoyed dinner and a very special fundraising auction for a collection of outstanding Hammers memorabilia.

Huge thanks to Ian Morgan of E13 Events and Terry Moncur of Langdon Hills Golf & Country Club for their great help organising the event with us.

Big thanks also to First Response Site Services, Rainham Industrial Services and to BC Media and Jake Cox for taking photos and film clips on the day and to all DT38 helpers for your dedication at the event.

The event raised around £14,000 which will all be used to support our work raising awareness of testicular cancer.

Thank you to everyone who supported us!

Dylan Tombides Trophy II 2023 – PICTURE SPECIAL

The second DT38 Trophy match of 2023 took place at Macedonia Park on August 19th, and what a memorable day it was!

The NPLWA fixture between Stirling Macedonia FC and Perth SC was dedicated to remembering Dylan Tombides and to raising awareness of DT38.

Dylan played for both clubs as a youngster and we continue enjoy a very strong affiliation with them.

On the day DT38 mascots dressed in our iconic hi-vis orange t-shirts, enjoyed pitch access for photos and gave both teams a “guard of honour” before kick off.

Dylan’s Father and Co-Founder of DT38, Jim Tombides, was on-hand to help with the coin toss.

Once the match was underway the crowd paid an emotional tribute to Dylan on the 38th minute with a stunning applause.

Our Head of Media & Operations Donna Giuffre chaired a pre-match Awareness Panel for a discussion about testicular cancer involving survivor of the disease Jake Harris, DT38 Board Member John Bondi, Dylan’s former West Ham United FC scout Mike Leigh and Stirling Macedonia FC President Luke Pavlos.

Big thanks to everyone who took part in the panel, to both clubs for your amazing support and to everyone who helped our charity on the day!

The match finished Stirling Macedonia FC 0-3 Perth SC.

Rob Pritchard Makes Appeal for Males to Check Themselves Once a Month

Long-time supporter of DT38 Rob Pritchard made a special video this month to encourage men and boys to check their testicles on the first of every month for our Check 1-Two campaign.

Rob got to know Dylan Tombides personally, he has been part of the West Ham United FC media team for many years.

He is also a DT38 Ambassador

The clip was filmed in front of Dylan’s memorial statue outside HBF Park in Perth and is the latest installment of DT38’s Check 1-Two Campaign, which launched in 2020.

It was launched because early detection of any symptoms of testicular cancer can dramatically increase your chances of surviving the disease.

Did you know? Self-checking is simple, you can do it in bed, in the shower, on the couch or anywhere private, and it could save your life!

Rob is the latest in a very large group of great people – including many famous faces – who have chosen to back our campaign.

Keep an eye out for who’s going to make an appearance on September 1st.
