Welcome to the DT38 November 2022 newsletter, Channel38.
It’s been a very exciting month for DT38 and we’re delighted to share some of the very latest news, events and stories involving our charity.
It’s also a chance for us to pass on vital information about the work we do raising awareness of testicular cancer across the world, around schools and in communities as well as publicly showing gratitude for the many people who support us in our work.
Men and boys: Remember to check yourselves on the first of every month, it could save your life!
DT38 White Collar Boxing A Knock Out Success
Awareness Below The Belt 4, our DT38 White Collar Boxing event on November 13th, has been hailed a huge success!
Hundreds of people packed into the world famous boxing venue York Hall on Remembrance Sunday to cheer on a cohort of 18 brave novice boxers, all to raise funds for DT38.
York Hall fell silent as the day opened with a rendition of The Last Post, a moving tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice in conflict for our freedom.
But the atmosphere soon changed as attention switched to the busy schedule of white collar contests ahead.
Each boxer brought an army of supporters, chants rang out before, during and after the bouts and each bout was flavoured with a huge sense of camaraderie.
Two knockouts featured among the results for the first time in the history of Awareness Below the Belt.
Taking charge in the ring was referee Nicky Thurbin and calling the card was MC Billy Nicholson. The ring girls Heba and Cristina kept the crowd up to date.
We’d like to say a huge thanks to all of the courageous people who took part. We’re immensely proud of each and every one of you for your dedication and bravery.
The boxers involved were:-
Chris Sweeney
Chas “The Hammer” Driscoll
John “Fireball” Feeney
Danny “Special K” Kershaw
Reece “The Beast” Dharni
Jamie “JMoney Mayweather” Head
Henry Parrott
Matthew “Cabbo” Sewell
Harry “The Hammer” Coton
James “The Romford Rocky” Baxter
Stuart Lenton
Alex “The Dog” Scott
Chad “Paco” Paczensky
Alex “Sniper” Marks
Anton “The Pitbull” Hamilton
Dan “The Hitman” Farrelly
Billy “The Bomber” Coton
Bootsie “The Big Fella” Fuller
We would also like to show huge gratitude to Dom “Jack” Shepherd and DT38 Ambassador Tony Liston of Peacock White Collar Boxing for organizing the event and to the team at York Hall.
Also to the DT38 team who helped on the day.
And to all amazing event sponsors for their generosity:

The thrilling action saw a programme of pre-arranged boxing matches involving people with limited experience in the ring under the supervision of Peacock Gym.
There was also a raffle and auction with lots including four tickets for the Britain’s Got Talent Final up for grabs, which were donated by TV star Stephen Mulhern.
In total the event raised £11,500 for DT38 and all monies will be used to raise awareness of the risks of testicular cancer to help save men and boys’ lives.

Tony Gale Encourages Guys to Check Themselves Once a Month
West Ham United FC icon Tony Gale has given his support to our Check 1-Two campaign to encourage men and boys to check their testicles on the first day of every month.
Fans’ favourite “Galey” made an exclusive video to encourage guys to check their testicles on the first day of every month.
The video was shared on November 1st and each month on the first day we send out a film from a supporter or famous face to help spread this vital information.
Did you know? Self-checking is simple, you can do it in bed, in the shower, on the couch or anywhere private, and it could save your life!
Early detection is so important when it comes to health issues such as testicular cancer and that’s why we’ll keep reminding you to get checking!
Massive thanks to Tony and to all of the many great folks who’ve joined in our Check 1-Two campaign so far. Keep an eye out for who’s going to make an appearance on December 1st.
