Welcome to the DT38 March 2023 newsletter, Channel38.
It’s been another busy month for DT38 and we’re here to share some of the very latest news, events and stories involving our charity.
It’s also an opportunity for us to pass on vital information about the work we do raising awareness of testicular cancer across the world, around schools and in communities as well as publicly showing gratitude for the many people who support us in our work.
Men and boys: Remember to check yourselves on the first of every month, it could save your life!
Dylan Tombides’ 29th Birthday

Our beloved Dylan Tombides’ 29th birthday would have been on March 8th.
We were extremely moved by the many beautiful messages of love and support we received to remember the man who is the inspiration for our charity.
On behalf of the Tombides family and everyone at DT38 we want to say a massive thank you.
Rest In Peace Dylan Tombides 08.03.94-18.04.2014
DT38 Awareness Day 2023

Huge gratitude to everyone at West Ham United FC who hosted an amazing DT38 Awareness Day in March.
DT38 is a Principal Charity Partner of the Club and they dedicated the Premier League match with Aston Villa FC on March 12 to help raise awareness of testicular cancer.
Mother of Dylan Tombides, Tracy, who launched DT38 in 2015 with the support of the Club was interviewed pitch-side before the match alongside Hammers icon Kevin Keen.
Kevin was first team coach when Dylan was on the bench for the final game of the 2011 season v Sunderland and had watched Dylan rise through the ranks at the WHUFC Academy and shared great memories of their time together.
A very special film – created by the technical wizards from the Hammers media team – played on the big screens to the sell-out crowd at London Stadium.
Time stood still on the 38th minute of the match when a moving minute of applause swept through the stadium.
Huge thanks, as always, to all Hammers for your support and also to all Villa fans for the wonderful show of respect you gave on the day.
The match ended in a 1-1 draw.
The match day programme featured a special two-page spread dedicated to DT38 and include an important visual guide on how to self check your testicles.
Leading up to the match the West Ham United first team squad wore DT38 t-shirts and posed for pictures to raise awareness.
Once again we would like to offer our biggest thanks to everyone at West Ham United FC for your dedicated support for our charity.

Carlton Cole Visits Perth to Launch Hammers Match v Perth Glory in July

West Ham United FC icon and DT38 Ambassador Carlton Cole headed down under this month to launch a special summer fixture for both of DT38’s top league partner clubs.
On July 15th the Hammers will play Perth Glory FC at Optus Stadium as part of their pre-season tour.
And former Irons striker Carlton met up with members of Dylan Tombides’ family and officials from DT38 and Perth Glory to announce the big game.
He was joined at the event – which took place near Dylan’s statue outside HBF Park – by Glory defender and fellow DT38 Ambassador Jack Clisby.
Dylan’s Dad Jim Tombides was among the party, he made special tributes at his son’s memorial place. He was joined by DT38 Directors John Bondi, Karen Bondi, Claire Meredith and Media and Operations guru Donna Giuffre and youth Ambassador Lee Bondi, Dylan’s cousin.
DT38 will be present at the match and tickets MAY still be available here: https://optusstadium.com.au/football-in-perth
We were thrilled to also make the 7NEWS TV show on the day.

Zac Willams Makes Appeal for Males to Check Themselves Once a Month
We are delighted that Australian Rules Football star Zac Williams has joined our campaign to raise awareness about the importance of self checking once a month.
Zac – who plays for Carlton Football Club in the AFL – made a video this month to encourage men and boys to check their testicles on the first day of every month.
The short film was the latest installment of DT38’s Check 1-Two Campaign, which launched in 2020.
Self checking is so important because early detection of any symptoms of testicular cancer can dramatically increase your chances of surviving the disease.
Did you know? Self-checking is simple, you can do it in bed, in the shower, on the couch or anywhere private, and it could save your life!
Zac is the latest in a very large group of famous faces to support our campaign.
Keep an eye out for who’s going to make an appearance on April 1st.
