Welcome to the DT38 June 2023 newsletter, Channel38.
It’s been another busy month for DT38 and we’re here to share some of the very latest news, events and stories involving our charity.
It’s also an opportunity for us to pass on vital information about the work we do raising awareness of testicular cancer across the world, around schools and in communities as well as publicly showing gratitude for the many people who support us in our work.
Men and boys: Remember to check yourselves on the first of every month, it could save your life!
DT38 Ambassador Scott Jamieson Retires from Football
We would like to send huge congratulations to DT38 Ambassador Scott Jameson on an outstanding career, following the announcement that he has retired from football.
“Jamo” won four caps for the Socceroos and in club football he enjoyed stints at Adelaide United, Sydney FC, Perth Glory, Western Sydney Wanderers and Melbourne City where he was club Captain until the end of this season.
He was a highly respected defender who will now be moving into a coaching role at MCFC.
In a statement, the Club’s coach Rado Vidosic said: “He’s been a fantastic servant, leader and gentleman. It has been an honour to coach him and to be part of his last season as a player.”
Way to go Jamo, thank you for all of the support you have given to DT38 and for everything you’ve done for Australian football.
We salute you!

The “DT38 Derby” is Fast Approaching
West Ham United FC’s big game against Perth Glory FC is fast approaching and we cannot wait to be there!
The match – known as the “DT38 Derby” – is part of the Premier League club’s pre-season tour of Australia.
Earlier this year West Ham United FC icon and DT38 Ambassador Carlton Cole visited HBF Park to meet Jim Tombides and other DT38 officials to launch the special summer fixture for both of DT38’s top league partner clubs.
The game takes place on July 15th and there MAY still be a few tickets available. Check out the box office here https://optusstadium.com.au/football-in-perth
Star-studded DT38 UK Golf Day – SOLD OUT
We are thrilled to announce that DT38’s third annual UK Golf Day has completely sold out.
The event takes place at Langdon Hills Golf & Country Club on August 15th and features a host of former Hammers stars.
DT38 Ambassador Tony Cottee will play on the day alongside Sir Trevor Brooking, Alan Curbishley, Tony Gale, George Parris and Geoff Pike, with a number of other stars yet to be announced.
The fundraiser will involve a round of golf for the Hammers icons and supporters followed by talks from Tracy Tombides and some of the other big names.
There will then be a dinner and auction, all part of a day to support DT38’s work raising awareness of testicular cancer.
Massive thanks to Ian Morgan of E13 Events and Terry Moncur of Langdon Hills Golf & Country Club for everything you’ve done so far!
We cannot wait!
West Ham United Win Europa Conference League
What a night it was!
June 7th, 2023 will live long in our memories as our partner club West Ham United FC lifted their first European trophy for 43 years.
With DT38 Ambassadors Declan Rice on the pitch, Carlton Cole on the TV gantry and Hammers media man Rob Pritchard reporting from the stands, to name but a few, we had a lot of representation on what was a most memorable night!
That Jarrod Bowen goal will live long in our memories, huge congratulations to everyone at the Club and thanks for the memories!
New DT38 Ambassador
We were delighted to say a very warm hello to two new DT38 Ambassadors this month.
Firstly we were thrilled to welcome footballer Will Aimson of League One club Exeter City FC.
Defender Will is a former team mate of Taylor Tombides and will help us raise awareness of DT38 and testicular cancer going forward.
Former West Ham United FC staff member Paul Tigue has also joined our burgeoning cohort of Ambassadors.
Paul was Head of Education during Dylan Tombides’ time at the Club.
He will also now support DT38 by helping us raise awareness of testicular cancer.
Great to have you both onboard!
Will Aimson Makes Appeal for Males to Check Themselves Once a Month
No sooner had Will Aimson signed up as a DT38 Ambassador, than he was already busy helping us spread the word.
Will produced content especially for us as part of our campaign to raise awareness about the importance of self checking once a month.
The Exeter City FC defender helped us by making a video in June to encourage men and boys to check their testicles on the first day of every month.
The clip was the latest installment of DT38’s Check 1-Two Campaign, which launched in 2020.
It was launched because early detection of any symptoms of testicular cancer can dramatically increase your chances of surviving the disease.
Did you know? Self-checking is simple, you can do it in bed, in the shower, on the couch or anywhere private, and it could save your life!
Will is the latest in a very large group of great people – including many famous faces – who have chosen to back our campaign.
Keep an eye out for who’s going to make an appearance on July 1st.
