The Latest News & Stories – September 2021
DT38 UK Golf Day – Fundraising Update
We are thrilled to announce that our highly successful Golf Day at Langdon Hills Golf & Country Club on August 24th raised an amazing £12,225.
This incredible sum was raised through ticket sales, sponsorship packages, a raffle and an auction that included dinner packages with Carlton Cole, Tony Gale, and many other West Ham United icons.
We are extremely grateful to everyone who supported this event, made generous auction bids and helped to make the DT38 Golf Day the success that it was.
All monies raised will be used to support our ongoing work to help save men and boys’ lives by raising awareness of testicular cancer as well as educating young people about wellbeing and arranging free screening events.
Thank you.

We were thrilled to share a wonderful video of support this month from John Moncur for our Check 1-Two campaign which encourages men and boys to check themselves on the 1st day of every month.
The hammers favourite, who played 176 matches for the club as a midfielder, is the uncle of George Moncur, one of Dylan Tombides’ best buddies.
John also supported DT38 by giving his time for free to play at our fundraising Golf Day in August.

Ninth Anniversary of Dylan Tombides’ West Ham United Debut
September 25th marked nine years since Dylan made his first team appearance for West Ham United at Upton Park.
The Aussie forward had been battling testicular cancer for more than a year when Sam Allardyce gave him his debut in 2012.
This was a key moment in Dylan’s inspiring story because it was only his determination to continue training despite fighting cancer that led to the occasion which meant so much to him and does to the Tombides’ family.
The fixture was a League Cup tie versus Wigan Athletic, which ended 1-4 to The Latics.
You can read more about Dylan’s debut on West Ham United’s website, here: https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2019/september/25-september/dylan-tombides-touching-debut-seven-years

We receive so many fantastic pictures every month and we also get some crackers from our own events.
This month our chosen “Picture of the Month” is dedicated to Emma Green who took on the Great North Run for us on September 12th.

Support DT38 at our Online Shop
Of course the Coronavirus has had a significant impact upon everyone.
A large part of DT38’s fundraising comes from events we run throughout the year, as well as from individuals, companies and organisations who undertake fundraising initiatives to support our campaign to raise awareness of testicular cancer.
But we, like many others, have sadly been affected by the postponement of cancellation of many events and fundraising opportunities across 2020 and until at least Summer 2021.
The funds we receive are vital to support our ongoing work to help save the lives of men and boys through education and self-checking campaigns.
If you would like to continue supporting DT38 we do still accept direct donations via our website, you can donate towards our 3.80 Funding Appeal or you could make a purchase through our online store here: https://dt38foundation.myshopify.com
Thank you so much for any support you can give.

We are so grateful to more than 35,000 people who follow and support us on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.

And that brings to end this edition but we’ll be back with the next edition of Channel38 in October.
If you have helped DT38 in some way in recent times, please be sure to let us know so we can include it in one of our future newsletters. Contact tracylee@dt38.org or connect with us on Twitter Facebook or Instagram
