Welcome to the DT38 July 2022 newsletter, Channel38.
It’s been another busy month for us at DT38 and we’re delighted to share some of the very latest developments, events and stories involving our charity.
It’s also a chance for us to pass on vital information about the work we do to raise awareness of testicular cancer around schools and in communities as well as publicly showing gratitude for the many people who support us in our work.
Men and boys: Remember to check yourselves on the first of every month, it could save your life!
Going the Extra Mile! – The Asics London 10k

A team of DT38 runners led by our Patron Mile Jedinak and Ambassador Tom King raised more than £2,800 for DT38 in the searing heat in July for the Asics London 10k.
The guys were joined on the day by Tom’s sister Briony King, Alexandra Varsakisa, Charlotte Stock, Gareth Vidler and West Ham United coaches Stuart Fergus, Luke Smith and Sam Lyall.
We’re super proud of the team who took on the 10,000m race across the UK capital to raise funds for DT38 and awareness by wearing our special orange DT38 running vests.
Our co-founder Tracy Tombides cheered the gang on from the sidelines with DT38 family Maddison Troon and Sam Jones.
Tracy said: “It was a very hot day and I’m so proud of the whole team for getting through the run and putting in the effort of fundraising almost £3,000.
“This donation is so valuable to us and will be used to help us continue to raise awareness of the risks of testicular cancer and the importance of early detection and checking yourselves.”
Fab Four Appointed as DT38 Ambassadors

It was with great excitement that we announced FOUR new DT38 Ambassadors in July including two players from Australian football leagues in Melbourne.
Jesse Makarounas, a midfielder at Brunswick City SC and Danny Dixon of Hume City FC are both now on board as official supporters of DT38.
Danny is, thankfully, now back on the pitch following his own battle with testicular cancer last year.
Also joining the DT38 team as Ambassadors are Dee Brown, a friend of our co-founder Tracy Tombides and 14-year-old Youth Ambassador Luke from Long Island, New York.
Luke wants to help us raise awareness having met Dylan as a youngster.
We’re so pleased to announce these fantastic additions to the DT38 team.
Tracy Tombides Marks National Bereaved Parents Day in Exclusive Interview with West Ham United

The mother of Dylan Tombides, the young man who inspired DT38 after his brave battle with testicular cancer, opened up about her journey of grief in a moving interview with West Ham United.
Tracy Tombides gave an exclusive interview on July 3rd to mark National Bereaved Parents Day and share her own experiences of losing a child an the impact it has had on her and her family.
An extract from the piece
“It is a void that you just don’t know how to fill initially. Over time, you learn to fill that void with the most precious of memories. You learn that everything happens for a reason and you are grateful for the time that you had with your beautiful young man. You learn to smile and laugh whenever your thoughts turn to him.”
