DT38 Australia Awareness Match 2024 – PICTURE SPECIAL
A day we’ll never forget, February 17th, 2024.
This year’s DT38 Awareness Match at Perth Glory FC was an epic experience for everyone.
HBF Park experienced a DT38 takeover, dayglo orange DT38 tee-shirts littered the stands and the pitch itself before kick-off and at half time.
This A-League fixture was dedicated to raising awareness of DT38 and testicular cancer thanks to the generosity of Perth Glory FC, we’re their Principal Charity Partner.
Before the game we were invited to the Chairman’s lunch, where DT38 Australia’s Head of Media & Operations Donna Giuffre gave a talk about the risks of testicular cancer, joined by Dylan Tombides’ father Jim and uncle John Bondi.
A team of DT38 match day mascots emerged from the tunnel for Glory v Brisbane Roar FC led by the skippers of both teams who were adorned with DT38 apparel.
The match was broadcast live on Paramount+ (TNT Sports 3 in the UK) and the commentators set up the day by introducing DT38 to their audience and paying tribute to Dylan Tombides, the inspiration for our charity.
The early action on the pitch set the tone for what would become a thrilling 97 minutes of top-level Australian football, which would ultimately see Glory triumph three-two.
During half time we were busy. Our very own Donna Giuffre was interviewed live on TV by DT38 Ambassador and Paramount+ reporter Jacob Burns.
And TV star Luke Toki donned his DT38 tee to take on Glory mascot George the Gorilla in a penalty shootout, just for kicks! He was joined by Michael Italiano, a parent from St Kieran Primary School who was invited as a guest of DT38.
But the most memorable moment on the day was an emotional applause on minute 38 to remember Dylan Tombides.
A moving tribute which was captured by the cameras, you can watch it here:
We were given the opportunity to place QR Codes around the stadium to encourage donations.
It is fundraising and donations that enable DT38 to continue to educate and raise awareness of testicular cancer to help save men and boy’s lives and we are grateful to everyone who supported us on the day.
And thank you, of course, to the team at Perth Glory FC, to Brisbane Roar FC, the amazing DT38 volunteers, to A-League, Luke Toki and to Paramount+.
It really was a very memorable day which afforded us an outstanding opportunity to reach out to more people than ever before.
We hope you enjoy this gallery of images from the day.
DT38 Teams Up with The Roar as Charity Partner
We were thrilled to announce that Brisbane Roar FC has appointed DT38 as an official charity partner of the A-League club.
Here is the FULL press release shared by the Queensland team on February 16th.
Brisbane Roar are proud to welcome DT38 Australia on board as the club’s Charity Partner to unite in raising awareness for testicular cancer.
DT38 aim to drive the self-awareness campaign for early detection, focus on youth education through various teaching programmes, partnering with the community to promote increased male awareness and open discussions, and collaborating with governing bodies.
DT38 has been set up in memory of Dylan James Tombides who was an Australian International and West Ham United professional football player who passed away aged 20 in April 2014 after a 3-year battle with testicular cancer.
For the Brisbane Roar’s away game against Perth Glory at HBF Park on 17 February 2024, both teams’ Captains will be walking out with a special DT38 top to display their support in raising awareness for testicular cancer.
DT38 will also be the Charity Partner for Brisbane Roar’s home game where they will host Newcastle Jets on the 13th of April at Suncorp Stadium.
“Brisbane Roar are proud to welcome DT38 as our Charity Partner as the club strongly support the mission to raise awareness for testicular cancer. It is the courage to continue that counts. Much like Dylan Tombides, whose spirit and unwavering determination on the football field, even in the face of life’s toughest challenge, continues to inspire us all. We look forward to our Captain walking out with personalised DT38 tee in a couple of weeks’ time,” Brisbane Roar Chairman & CEO Kaz Patafta stated.
“DT38 are so proud and honoured to partner with Brisbane Roar as our 2nd A leagues Charity Partner. This holds great significance in our mission to raising awareness and further cementing Dylan’s legacy in the Australian football community. We look forward to working with our Principal Charity Partner Perth Glory Football Club & our new Charity Partner Brisbane Roar FC over the seasons.” DT38 Head of Media & Operations – Donna Giuffre stated

Moose Urges You to Check Yourselves Once a Month!
We all know the lovely “Moose” (real name Ian Abrahams), he’s a Talksport legend and Ambassador of DT38.
The radio presenter knew Dylan Tombides and this month he joined our Check 1-Two campaign by making a video urging men and boys to check their balls on the first of every month.
It was the latest episode of our campaign, which was launched in 2020 to encourage men and boys to take their testicular health into their own hands.
The clip was shared on February 1st and every month on the first day we send out a message from a supporter or celebrity to help spread this vital information
In autumn 2023 we took Check 1-Two to the next level by launching the FREE DT38 E-Calendar which automatically sends a reminder to your smartphone calendar after sign up.
Did you know? Self-checking is simple, you can do it in bed, in the shower, on the couch or anywhere private, and it could save your life!
Early detection is so important when it comes to health issues such as testicular cancer and that’s why we’ll keep reminding you to get checking!
Big thanks to Moose for supporting our campaign.
Keep an eye out for who’s going to make an appearance on March 1st.

DT38 Launches E-Calendar – A Timely Reminder
The new DT38 e-calendar uses technology to remind people to check themselves down under on the first of every month.
By signing up you are just a few clicks away from getting all the important DT38 dates you need automatically updated onto the calendar of your mobile phone, tablet or PC.
Tracy Tombides, Co-Founder of DT38, said: “We are very encouraged to see so many people signing up to our new scheme but I want to see more get involved.
“Our all new e-calendar is a great aid to remind people to check their testicles on the first of every month and it’s so easy to access, it could make all the difference.
“We also make sure that all key dates are in there for DT38, so subscribers have everything automatically updated on their phones and tablets and it’s completely free.
“There are only up-sides to our new e-calendar, so if you haven’t yet, I urge you to get involved.”
The innovation has primarily been introduced to enable more men and boys to check their testicles once a month, to pick up signs of anything unusual early on.
Here’s a reminder of the top benefits!
