Welcome to the DT38 Foundation May 2021 newsletter, Channel38.
This is where we bring together all the very latest developments, events and support stories at DT38.
It’s also a chance for us to share important information about the work we do to raise awareness of testicular cancer around schools and in communities as well as publicly offering our thanks to the many people who support us in our endeavours.
Podcast Fundraising Boost for DT38
To kick off this month’s Channel38 we would like to say a huge thank you to the guys at the We Are West Ham podcast who have raised a whopping £5,828.32 for DT38 during the 2020-21 Premier League football season.
The team including Jamie Jones, Will Pugh and Tom Edwards ran a football betting competition with the support of Betway and raised a total of £12,435 for charity with the rest of the total donated to the Bobby Moore Fund and Isla’s Fight.
Incredible work! This donation will help DT38 continue to help save men and boys’ lives by education and raising awareness of testicular cancer.
Saturday Morning G & T Anyone?
Our Co-Founder Tracy Tombides was delighted to take part in a YouTube interview with the team at Saturday Morning G & T on May 1st, a sports podcast presented by Glenn Jacobs, Priyesh Upadhyaya and Turkan Sarica.
Tracy, mother of our charity’s inspiration Dylan Tombides, talked about her son’s battle with testicular cancer, his legacy and much more.
You can watch or listen to the podcast episode here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GgKmpZ51E1g
Thank you for the opportunity guys!
West Ham Unofficial Interview
A delegation from DT38 were invited to take part in an episode of West Ham Unofficial with young Hammers fan Jake who launched the podcast in 2020.
Our Co-Founders Tracy and Taylor Tombides were joined by DT38 Trustee Joe Sealey – now appearing in ITV’s Real Housewives of Cheshire with his wife Nicole Sealey – and discussed with Jake all about Dylan Tombides, the work of DT38 in raising awareness of testicular cancer and the importance of self checking.
Big thanks for having us on Jake.

DT38 x West Ham United Raffle Winner Announced
In April we launched a raffle to give one lucky Hammers fan a very special prize, the chance to have a private Zoom call with a West Ham first team player.
We’re very pleased to reveal that the winner is Sam Cleaver, congratulations Sam!
Sam has already claimed his prize and had a Zoom call with MARK NOBLE earlier this month.
The lovely people at the Hammers kindly made a video of the occasion and we’ll be sharing that on our social media channels very soon – watch this space!
Boleyn United Charity Football Match for DT38
A shout out for the guys at the West Ham supporters group Boleyn United FC who are holding a charity match vs Mates FC on June 5th at Moulsham High School in Chelmsford, Essex to raise funds for DT38.
If you would like to support the lads (& DT38) by making a donation, you can do so here https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/bufcxdt38
West Ham Qualify for Europe
We would like to say huge congratulations to everyone at West Ham United Football Club for their success in the 2020-21 Premier League season.
The club finished 6th in the League and qualified for the UEFA Europa League competition next season.
It is the club’s highest top-flight finish since the 1988-89 season.
We’re very proud to be West Ham United’s Principal Charity Partner.
Tracy Talks Self Checking
As part of our ongoing Check 1-Two campaign our Co-Founder Tracy Tombides shared a very important video demonstrating how to check your testicles on May 1st!
Check 1-Two was launched in 2020 by DT38 Foundation to encourage men and boys to check themselves on the first of every month.
Self checking saves lives and early detection of testicular cancer can be the difference!
Joe, Taylor & Tom 10k
A fundraising battle has begun between three amazing men who are supporting DT38 (and competing like crazy) in the Asics London 10k on 25th July, 2021.
DT38 co-founder Taylor Tombides, Trustee Joe Sealey and Dylan’s former Australian teammate Tom King are all frantically raising funds while training for the big run this summer.
Not only does each of the terrific trio want to cross the line first, they also want the bragging rights of claiming the top fundraiser title!
At the moment Joe is in the lead but there’s still plenty of time for Taylor and Tom to catch up!
Who will you support?
Sponsor Taylor https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/taylor-tombides
Sponsor Joe https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/joe-sealey
Sponsor Tom https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/tom-king-dt38 -king-dt38
Support these men as they take on a memorable run around the capital and fundraise in support of our mission to raise awareness of testicular cancer, the most common type of cancer among young men in the world.
Future DT38 Fundraising Events in the UK – 2021

October – DT38 Charity Poker Tournament at Crown London, Mayfair.
November – White Collar Boxing with Peacock Gym at York Hall aka. ‘Awareness Below the Belt 3.0’.

Many Happy Returns
A splendid six birthdays were celebrated around the DT38 gang in May.
On May 11th sports presenter and DT38 Ambassador Heather Miller celebrated her big day and on the 17th DT38 Australia Board Member and Dylan’s Auntie Erica Pass did the same.
Blair Turgott, winger for Swedish club Ostersunds FK, turned 27 on May 22nd and ADO Den Haag defender Jordan Spence was 31 on May 24th – both are DT38 Ambassadors who spent time with Dylan Tombides at West Ham United.
And May 31st is a share day as DT38 Ambassadors Adam Marjoram (28) and Mark Lee (41) both celebrate their birthdays that day!
Many Happy Returns one and all!
Picture of the Month
It’s so hard to pick just one out, but we have to do what we have to do! We’ve chosen our “Picture of the Month” just for fun.
This month we’ve gone for this clip of our Tracy Tombides in action during an interview with the Saturday Morning G & T podcast.
It was shared by the lads on Instagram and we’re proud to share it with you (be sure to have click the link above and have a watch/listen).
Containers For Change Down Under
We are thrilled to be a nominated charity to benefit from the Containers For Change recycling initiative in Western Australia.
There are three simple steps to help the environment and our charity through this initiative.
1. Collect eligible containers
Most aluminium, glass, plastic, steel and liquid paperboard drink containers between 150ml and 3L are eligible.
2.Take them to a refund point
There are different types of refund points across Western Australia, so find the right one for you.
3. Earn a refund or donate
You’ll receive 10 cents for every eligible container you return which you can keep or DONATE.
It really is that simple to build up your recycling and help DT38 and the planet at the same time!

Support DT38 at our Online Shop
Of course the Coronavirus has had a significant impact upon everyone.
A large part of DT38’s fundraising comes from events we run throughout the year, as well as from individuals, companies and organisations who undertake fundraising initiatives to support our campaign to raise awareness of testicular cancer.
But we, like many others, have sadly been affected by the postponement of cancellation of many events and fundraising opportunities across 2020 and until at least Summer 2021.
The funds we receive are vital to support our ongoing work to help save the lives of men and boys through education and self-checking campaigns.
If you would like to continue supporting DT38 we do still accept direct donations via our website, you can donate towards our 3.80 Funding Appeal or you could make a purchase through our online store here: https://dt38foundation.myshopify.com
Thank you so much for any support you can give.
Sharing the Love
We are so grateful to more than 35,000 people who follow and support us on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.
Every month we receive so many shares, Retweets, likes and tags and we’re so grateful for each and every one of them, thank you.
And that brings to end this edition but we’ll be back with the next edition of Channel38 in June.
If you have helped DT38 in some way in recent times, please be sure to let us know so we can include it in one of our future newsletters. Contact tracylee@dt38.org or connect with us on Twitter Facebook or Instagram.
