DT38 Newsletter Channel38 – April Edition including Remembering Dylan, DT38 at West Ham v Man City and Spaces up for grabs at British 10k

Welcome to the DT38 Foundation April newsletter, Channel38.

This is the place where we bring together the latest events, support stories and developments at DT38.

It’s also a chance for us to share important information about the work we do to raise awareness of testicular cancer around schools and in communities as well as publicly offering our thanks to the many people who support us in our work.

Always In Our Hearts

April 18th marked the fourth anniversary of the passing of our beloved Dylan.

Once again, we would like to thank you all for the amazing messages of support that we have received.

Losing a friend, relative and son at the age of just 20 is completely devastating.

Those closest to Dylan will never heal completely, but they will continue to honour his memory through DT38.

They will continue to raise awareness of testicular cancer in the hope that future lives can be saved and that other families and friendship groups will not have to go through the same ordeal.

Rest in peace Dylan x

DT38 Awareness Day

With the amazing support of West Ham United FC, we are delighted to announce the fourth annual DT38 Awareness Day will be on April 29th.

It will take place at London Stadium on the day that West Ham United FC meet the Premier League Champions Manchester City FC.

Kick off will be at 2.15pm and DT38 is lucky enough to receive such amazing exposure around the match, including a pre-match pitch-side parade, special mentions in the match day magazine and a very exciting film which is due to be shown on the big screens on the day.

Whatever you do, make sure you don’t miss that!

The match will also be broadcast live on Sky Sports.

Take Part in DT38’s White Collar Boxing Day

Ever wanted to be a champion boxer? Now is your chance.

We are on the hunt for two people – men or women – to compete in the first-ever DT38 White Collar Boxing Day.

Never boxed before? Don’t worry, most of the guys and girls who’ve already signed up for the big day, on June 10th, have never entered the ring and you’ll be in safe hands with the experts from London’s Peacock Gym.

You’ll also be given plenty of safety gear and a set of rules designed to ensure that white collar boxing is just about fitness, fun and raising funds for DT38.

Of course, if you can take part, we’d love it if you could raise some funds for DT38 at the same time by selling tickets to your friends and family – it’s what it’s all about!

If you’d be interested in getting involved and are over the age of 18, please contact tracylee@dt38.org

Tickets – White Collar Boxing Event for DT38

Tickets are now on sale for the first ever DT38 White Collar Boxing Day on June 10th, 2018.

The big day – supported by West Ham United FC and Crown Community London – will take place at the legendary York Hall, Bethnal Green, and see David Sullivan Jr enter the ring in one of a series of novice bouts, guaranteed to wow the crowd and raise the roof.

Tickets are priced at £60 (ringside seating), £50 (balcony seating) and £40 (stalls seating) – this price includes the booking fee and all profits go to DT38 Foundation.

The action – which runs from 2pm to 8pm – is being organised by experts from Peacock Gym.

Taking control of the DT38 fundraising auction and presenting the trophies will be former WBC light-heavyweight World Champion John Conteh. The event will be hosted by former BBC broadcaster Johnny Barren.

DT38 Picture of the Month

A regular feature on Channel38 is our Picture of the Month.

We are delighted to receive so many fantastic snaps of people doing cool things to raise awareness or funds for DT38.

And job of picking the DT38 Picture of the Month is always a tough one.

But, the winner for April is this great picture taken down at Peacock Gym, where two of our willing contenders were being shown the ropes by the guvnors!

Please continue to send in those pictures of you wearing your DT38 hats, t-shirts and scarves from wherever you are in the world at that time. It is great fun and we LOVE to share them so please keep posting them to our social media channels or tracylee@dt38.org

Running for DT38

We are immensely proud of the many people who have taken part in organised races to raise funds and awareness for DT38.

On Sunday, April 15th, the amazing Emma Green ran the Brighton Marathon and nabbed a personal best, despite just three weeks training because of injury. Emma raised £500 for DT38 Foundation and he’s since pledged to continuing running for us and we’re extremely grateful.

We are delighted to confirm that we have been awarded several spaces in the Virgin Sport Westminster (London) 10k on July 15th, 2018.

If you would like to run for DT38 please get in touch Tracylee@dt38.org

Many Happy Returns

We’d like to wish the biggest Happy Birthday to two of our wonderful DT38 Ambassadors this month.

First up, Luton Town defender Dan Potts was 24 on April 13th and the day before Brandon O’Neill of Sydney FC was also 24. Fancy that!

Many Happy Returns gentlemen from all of us at DT38 Foundation!

Sharing the Love

We are so grateful to more than 30,000 people who follow and support us on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.

Every month we receive so many shares, Retweets, likes and tags and we’re so grateful for each and every one of them.

Here are just three of the many wonderful messages received this month

And that brings to end of this April 2018 edition of Channel38, but we’ll be back with an update in May.

If you have helped DT38 in some way in recent times, please be sure to let us know so we can include it in one of our future newsletters. Contact tracylee@dt38.org or connect with us on Twitter Facebook or Instagram
