On 25 March 2017, former United players, including Paul Scholes, Dwight Yorke, Denis Irwin and Mikael Silvestre, will take on the PFA Aussie Legends in a historic clash that will raise money for Manchester United Foundation and the DT38 Foundation.
It’s the first time the Manchester United Legends have visited Western Australia and the team will be managed by former United and England captain, Bryan Robson. It’s also the first time Professional Footballers Australia has assembled a legends team, which will be coached by former Socceroos coach Frank Farina OAM.
The match follows previous Manchester United Legends campaigns against Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Liverpool FC, and player-manager Robson says the team still relish the competition.
“The players love it, but they don’t like to lose once they’ve been brought up at a club like United, so the lads who play in Perth will definitely want to win,” he said.
“The previous legends games have gone fantastically, for the fans and also the amount of money raised charity. I’m sure we’ll get a similar response in Perth from the fans and they’ll really enjoy the game.”
