AGES 7 – 10

When working with this age group we use our picture story book ‘Didge’ which follows the life of talented cub, Didge, who excels playing football. However, Sena, the sneaky, slithering snake enters Didge’s life unexpectedly and his life changes dramatically. Didge reflects Dylan’s story and is based on courage, persistence and love that aims to inspire people of all ages.

This programme aims to educate students to:

  • Lead positive, meaningful lives
  • Never give up on achieving their hopes and dreams
  • Be resilient through difficult times
  • Believe in themselves – Be a good friend
  • Set goals
  • Lead a healthy lifestyle through diet and exercise
  • Be self- aware of their general health and wellbeing.

Didge does this through a range of engaging and motivating activities linked to Literacy and Personal, Social and Health Education national curriculum.

What the teachers say…

The year twos really enjoyed their six week Didge programme. They learnt about the importance of friendship, persistence, resilience and taking care of themselves whilst covering numerous literacy and health outcomes AND having fun! They were inspired by Didge and his family and friends every lesson. I would strongly recommend this programme.
– Mable Wong, Year 2 Teacher

Zara, Year 2 Student- Didge made me think that I should never give up and I should always be supportive of my friends.

Blake, Year 2 Student- Didge has inspired me to follow my dreams and if I never give up I can do anything.

Sara, Year 2 Student- Didge has inspired me to eat and drink healthy foods, just like the Misty’s Magical Medicine Juice we made so I can take care of my health.

What the teachers say…

Natasha and the team were excellent ambassadors for the DT38 Foundation. There educational programmes encompassed determination, resilience and goal setting. This program was a brilliant addition to the Health and English learning areas. The students were engaged and excited every time the DT38 Foundation came to our school. Having sporting role models come out to talk to the students was a learning experience that the students will not forgot. I would have no hesitation in recommending the DT38 to other schools.

What the kids have to say….

Grace, Year 5 Student- The book Didge taught me to always have resilience, even during the toughest of times. Your family is always right behind you during the worst. Self- belief is really important. Always believe in your dreams.

Alice, Year 5 Student- Didge taught me to follow your dreams, never give up, encourage other people,  share feelings with someone close to me and to meet new friends.

Jude, Year 6 Student- DT38 taught me to have courage and not be embarrassed to talk to someone if I notice changes in my body. They also taught me that if I get knocked down to do what Dylan did and not give up.

OUR HISTORY

THE DT38 VISION

Our vision is to change the way testicular cancer is diagnosed by implementing best practice diagnostic guidelines for patients who present with testicular symptoms. We also aim to arm future generations of young men with the necessary knowledge about testicular cancer that will enable them to be confident when taking health matters into their own hands.

THE DT38 MISSION

Our mission is to raise awareness and change the stigma associated with men’s health issues with a focus on testicular cancer. We aim to do this through providing educational programmes and opportunities for the youth of our community, to help shape a generation of children who are self- aware about their health and wellbeing.
