The second month of DT38’s Check 1-Two campaign has taken place, led by footballers from Australia and the UK.
Perth Glory goalkeeper Liam Reddy and Luton Town forward Elliot Lee both made films to encourage men to self-check their testicles on the first of every month from now on.
A-League stopper Liam, accompanied by his children, insisted “there’s never been a better time” for men to check themselves while Championship favourite Elliot – a close friend of Dylan Tombides at West Ham United – kept it simple with the messages “it could save your life” and “check your balls!”.
Both videos were filmed during the Coronavirus stay at home conditions.
The need for men to check themselves regularly to detect any issues as early as possible has never been more important with the current pressures on health services in Australia, UK and across the world.
Early detection of testicular cancer dramatically improves the treatment outcomes and chances of survival.
Tracy Tombides – Founder of DT38 and mother of Dylan Tombides – said “The Check 1-Two campaign is extremely important to us.
“It’s so vital that men speak to other men and boys about the importance of checking themselves to remove the stigma, embarrassment and unknown aspects around men’s health down under.
“I’m so grateful to Liam, Elliot and Mile Jedinak last month, for making these videos and I’m delighted with the reactions on social media.
“But we need to make sure the likes and Retweets are turned into men and boys actually taking action and checking themselves on the first day of every month.”
DT38 has lined up more Ambassadors from the world of sport and beyond to produce future films for Check 1-Two and Tracy is calling on all of DT38’s followers to produce their own video version of the monthly reminder while they have time on their hands. The video used on the 1st of every month from our followers will receive a DT38 pack.
